I have been lucky enough to be selected (I know!) to have two of my original fern paintings (see below) included in this fantastic exhibition, along with some smaller pieces in the 30cm x 30cm category. I visited the SSA and VAS joint exhibition last year and was so impressed I joined both societies! So if you would like to see my Dryopteris sieboldii and Dryopteris affinis alongside many other fantastic contemporary works, and for an inspirational treat, head along to the RSA between the 17th December and the 17th of January.
The exhibition comprises painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, video and performance art featuring established and new artists based in Scotland and internationally. I have been along a few times this week as a “tell me what to do and I’ll do it” body* helping with the set up and I am very excited to be included and I can’t wait to see all the work up on the walls and installed!
*I and the other fantastic volunteers have helped bring in the artwork, many many trips, picked up litter, scrubbed toe marks off skirtings, cleaned and painted plinths, painted hanging fixtures at the top of a very high ladder, polished glass, again at the top of a very high ladder, modelled for the photographer, it’s been a very exciting week, when you are in there it is hard to imagine that the world goes on out with the gallery set up, until you exit and re-engage…
Katherine Tyrrell gave me a really fantastic write up in her great blog Botanical Art and Artists, I really appreciate her support, thanks Katherine! https://www.botanicalartandartists.com/news/marianne-hazlewood-in-society-of-scottish-artists-exhibition-opens-today
